Fallibroome Student Matthew Fellbaum triumphed at the recent British Orienteering Championship competition in Shropshire by winning in the M18 Elite Class.

This age class has many outstanding athletes in it, any of who could have won the event. Orienteering is such a difficult sport, not only needing high levels of fitness but also quick decision making, ability to run hard over rough terrain and to keep totally concentrating over the whole race to avoid mistakes or being distracted by others. Matthew did all of these and was able to take the prestigious title.

This result, as well as Matthew taking second place at the JK over Easter, secured his selection for the European Youth championships to be held in Poland at the start of July.

All at Fallibroome congratulate Matthew on his success and wish him luck for July!
