About History

We cover a full range of topics concerning British and World History from 1066 to the 20th Century. The department is well-resourced with a wide range of audio-visual aids as well as the more traditional textbooks. We offer an educational visit in each year from Year 7 through to Year 10, which are always popular with students and add a lot to the understanding they have gained in class. History remains a very popular choice at both GCSE and A-level at Fallibroome which is an indication of the positive experience offered to the students.

Timetable Allocation

2 lessons per fortnight in Y7

3 lessons per fortnight in Y8 & 9

Rewards

Reward stickers are given out for high quality pieces of homework or for good performance in assessments. They are also given out, roughly once per half-term, for sustained effort. If a student receives three or more reward stickers in a term, they receive a reward postcard through their register.

Homework

A homework assignment is set, on average, once a fortnight for classes in KS3. These assignments should take approximately 30 mins for students to complete.

Assessment

Summative assessment tests take place twice a year in the Progress Review Weeks in December and June.
