A-Level Physics students had a fascinating evening visiting The Christie Hospital in Manchester.

They were able to examine the role of Physics in Medicine by learning about diagnostic radiology, ultrasound and nuclear medicine imaging.

The keynote speech by Dr Laura Parkes of The University of Manchester gave an excellent insight into medical Physics research. Her cutting edge research into quantitative measurements of blood flow in the brain using MRI to examine cerebrovascular disease and ageing was fascinating and definitely showed our students how a career in Physics can lead to some exciting areas of work.
