The Fallibroome Academy will host their 11th TEDxYouth@Manchester conference on the morning of Wednesday 6th November 2019.

The conference has been a fixture on the school’s calendar since 2009 when Principal Peter Rubery attended the famous TED conference in California and met the TED founder, Chris Anderson.

“TED were looking to extend their mission of ‘ideas worth spreading’ to a youth audience and created the opportunity for local groups to win a license to organise independent or ‘x’ conferences. It was a privilege to be asked to organise the world’s first TEDxYouth conference and we have since created a remarkable archive of inspirational talks and performances”, said Peter.

The Technology, Entertainment and Design conference has become a worldwide phenomenon since they posted talks online and the TEDx format has spawned hundreds of independent conferences all over the world.

Peter added, “This year’s programme is our best yet with guest and student speakers exploring the theme of ‘Small Change’. The conference will be presented to an audience of sixth form students from schools in Cheshire East and Manchester and live streamed to the world via the school’s website.”

Speakers include: a former Manchester United footballer turned environmental activist; a star of West End Musicals and Netflix TV; the first women to row solo across the Atlantic and an incredible story of transformation from childhood in war torn Sierra Leone to international sporting success.

The programme also includes passionate student talks and stunning performances.
