GCSE Fine Artists Spend the Weekend in Anglesey with Renowned Artists…

On the 27th – 29th April, Mr Vickers and Dr Smith took 23 enthusiastic year 10 Fine Art students to the Conway Centre near Menai Bridge in Anglesey. The students worked intensely with artists in a workshop environment alongside other students and teachers from a range of schools, gaining inspiration from them. Students produced a body of work which will contribute to their GCSE Exam project to potentially raise their attainment.

A variety of workshops were led by Artists which included 3D papier mache bowls with phrases painted on, Arabic calligraphy inspired paintings, metal mandala sculptures, 3D mixed media medal creations and deconstructed textile landscapes.  All students thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and made fantastic progress.

Patrick Chu who created a 3D sculpture inspired by Scholar’s Rock said

“It was very engaging”

One of the Artists, Helen Adams, teaching on the weekend said

“The Fallibroome students were so well behaved, helpful and enjoyable to teach. They really stood out to me. In fact they were so lovely, I want to adopt them!”

Mr Vickers said

“This was such a good trip. I’d like to thank Sarah Haigh and Edsential for making this trip possible and to the students for producing such exquisite work and being so positive and enthusiastic.”

We hope the students will return again next year for different workshops with different artists.
