GCSE Fine artists spend the weekend in Anglesey with renowned artists.

On the 26th – 28th April Mr Vickers and Dr Smith took 24 enthusiastic year 10 Fine Art & Craft students to the Conway Centre near Menai Bridge in Anglesey. The students worked intensely with artists in a workshop environment alongside other students and teachers from a range of schools, gaining inspiration from them. Students produced a body of work which will contribute to their GCSE Exam project to potentially raise their attainment.

A variety of workshops were led by Artists which included 3D houses made from mdf and card, shanty houses created from wood, wire and tissue paper, Ariel view maps, expressive abstract forms, linear street views and eroded interior wall plaster casts. All students thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and made fantastic progress.

Maisie Webb who created a plaster cast which she then painted said “It was fascinating and although we put in a lot of hard work it still felt calm and therapeutic”

Jake Buckley exclaimed “It was great!”

Josh Dempsey stated “I thought it would be good but it was so much better than I thought it would be!”

Mr Vickers said “This was such a good trip. I’d like to thank Sarah Haigh and Edsential for making this trip possible and to the students for producing such exquisite work and being so positive and enthusiastic.”

We hope the students will return again next year for different workshops with different artists.
