Another Excellent Year for Fallibroome!

After our record A-Level results last week, our Year 11 students have returned an extraordinary set of results today. Over a third (36%) of our GCSE grades have been between 9-7 (equivalent to the old A*-A level of performance). In English, 84% of the students achieved Grade 9-4 and 72% achieved Grade 9-5. The equivalent figures for Maths were 79% and 64%.

While these attainment statistics will again rank us as one of the highest performing schools in the country, we are particularly pleased with the progress that students of all abilities have made during their time at Fallibroome. While our official ‘Progress 8’ score will not be calculated by the Department for Education until late September, we anticipate that this will be confirmed at approximately +0.36 in due course. This is our best ever performance against this measure and this demonstrates that our students have made significantly more progress at Fallibroome than was expected based on their primary school scores. The following students returned results that were particularly impressive in this respect and have agreed to have their name published to celebrate this achievement:

  • Allan, Kyle
  • Chu, Patrick
  • Edwards, Jamie
  • Hiscott, Jamie
  • Housley, Samuel
  • Karakostas, Maximillian
  • Ketel, James
  • Macleod, Rory
  • Morgan, Thomas
  • Moston, Thea
  • Oates, Max
  • Pegg, Alexander
  • Roberts, David
  • Somers, Lila
  • Xu, Stanford

We also saw 35 students achieve the remarkable feat of returning the highest grades (A*/A or 9/8/7) in nine or more subjects. This sort of attainment takes an enormous amount of hard work and commitment and is especially impressive during a period of significant change in the examination system. This list of high achievers includes:

  • Allan, Kyle
  • Allen, Grace
  • Anderson-Bhatia, Max
  • Bancroft, Leah
  • Butlin, David
  • Buttar, Emily
  • Clough, Oliver
  • Edwards, Jamie
  • English, Charlotte
  • Frith, Morgan
  • Hirst, Ella
  • Hiscott, Jamie
  • Hodgson, Mitchell
  • Jordan, Bethan
  • Karakostas, Maximillian
  • Kerr, Joshua
  • Luckman, Emily
  • Montgomery, Orla
  • Moston, Thea
  • Parrish, Charlotte
  • Seaborn, Lucas
  • Towne, Madeline
  • Wallis, Kirsty
  • Whittaker, Scarlett
  • Wood, Dylan
  • Wood, Thomas
  • Wrench, Isobel
  • Xu, Stanford

From this list, particular credit is due to Grace Allen, Max Anderson-Bhatia, David Butlin, Emily Buttar, Charlotte English, Jamie Edwards, Morgan Frith, Mitchell Hodgson, Bethan Jordan, Josh Kerr, Emily Luckman, Thea Moston, Lucas Seaborne, Kirsty Wallis, Dylan Wood, Stanford Xu and Isobel Wrench who achieved Grades 9-7 (A*/A) in every subject they studied.

Behind these examination statistics are some amazing individual success stories. Lara Crawford, Cameron Dow, Morgan Frith, Sian Heslop, Charlotte Parish, Matthew Pond, Kirsty Wallis, Harry Whelan and Scarlett Whittaker secured high grades whilst competing at a national level in their chosen sports. Special mention is also due to Hugh Connolly for doing so well even though he has been battling serious health issues over the last few years.

Fallibroome Headteacher Francis Power said:

“By any measure, this year’s GCSE results are outstanding. Students of all abilities have made excellent progress during their time at Fallibroome and we know that this has been achieved through persistent hard work and determination. The proportion of students achieving the highest grades is also very impressive and this is reflective of their own ambitions and the untiring support and high expectations of their subject teachers. All of this means that our students can reflect with great pride on their achievements and that they can progress to their Post-16 courses with justified confidence in their own abilities. Just as importantly, this cohort of students have made a huge contribution to Fallibroome through their commitment to our extra-curricular programme and the broader life of the school. We all look forward to welcoming many of our Y11 students into our Sixth Form in a few weeks’ time and we also wish all those who have chosen alternative Post-16 pathways every success in the future.”

Fallibroome Trust CEO Peter Rubery said:

“I am delighted to add my congratulations to Mr Power’s comments. These excellent results are a reflection of the hard work of a terrific group of students who responded so positively to the expert guidance of their teachers. I look forward to welcoming students who chose our 6th form back to school next month and send best wishes and thanks to those who move on to College or work and training. Our GCSE results are also strong at Winsford and Eaton Bank Academy, which joins the Trust in September. When added to outstanding results at A Level and at KS1 & 2 Primary SATS we can celebrate a terrific year for the Trust.”
