Talented young chefs at Fallibroome compete in Junior Futurechef, regional heats

Leyla Harputlu and Grace Jones, Year 10 Food and Nutrition students, having won the school heats last term went onto the regional finals at Trafford College, Altrincham.

Working to a budget of £6 per head, both girls designed and made stunning two course meals.

After a very closely fought competition Leyla came a close second.

She made a Turkish inspired meal of kofta in homemade pittas with jewelled couscous. For dessert she made her own Baklava, using a traditional family recipe.

The chefs judging the competition were amazed with the Baklava and learnt a tip or two themselves!  Leyla, so inspired by the competition, is planning to enter again next year.
