This year at the Winter Paralympics in PyeongChang, ex-Fallibroome Student Menna Fitzpatrick (who only has 5% vision) represented the UK in the Visually-Impaired Skiing events and performed to such an incredible standard that she, along with her team mate and guide Jennifer Kehoe, took four medals over five events, including a gold.

All at Fallibroome followed Menna’s Paralympic adventure from her disappointing opening event, which she didn’t finish, through her comeback in the next four events to the closing ceremony where she proudly carried the flag before the UK team as they entered the stadium. Events that Menna took medal placing were as follows: Super-G (Bronze), Giant Slalom (Silver), Super Combined (Silver) and Slalom (Gold). These victories placed her at the top of the UK team medal winners list.

Congratulations to Menna and Jennifer on an outstanding and inspirational performance on the world stage. Fallibroome Academy is immensely proud of Menna and wish her even more luck and success in her future events, hopefully including Beijing in 2022!

Fallibroome welcomed Menna to school today and gave her the opportunity to talk to our students about her successes and to show her the school gates which we have painted gold in her honour.
