Fallibroome Sixth Form students Ellie Banks, Ciara Montgomery and Sarah Hilton-Watts have raised over £3000 for Papyrus, the National Charity for Prevention of Young Suicide, as well as donating 41 inches of hair to The Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.
The fundraising is ongoing till the end of January, when a raffle is being held at the MAC Activity Centre where one of the students works. It’s a real community event and has also attracted the backing of internationally successful local Macclesfield band The Virginmarys, who adopted it as their first project to launch their global ‘Fans for Truth and Unity’ community action group at the start of December.
This, together with the media attention locally, has really helped to spread awareness of teenage mental health; and the girls, and the school are extremely proud of what they have achieved.
