The Fallibroome Academy hosted its 11th TEDxYouth@Manchester conference on November 6th. The audience of 450 sixth form students from six local schools were challenged and inspired by speakers presenting ‘ideas worth spreading’ under the theme of ‘small change’.

The programme included talks by international tennis coach Sam Jalloh, world record Atlantic Rower Kiko Matthews, former Manchester United footballer Richard Eckersley whose journey from professional sport to zero waste campaigner was echoed by political activist Femi Oluwole.

Students Zeta Graham, Moran Smith and Sam Squires spoke eloquently about their own experiences of change and moving musical interludes were performed by Fallibroome students Charlotte English, Tim Wheeler and Chetham’s School of Music students Sam Toulson and Cubby Howard.

Fallibroome Trust CEO and TEDx conference curator Peter Rubery said:

‘Our conference is a unique opportunity for students to hear and present challenging ideas. My thanks go to the fantastic organising committee and the amazing speakers and performers who made this a memorable day.’

The conference was livestreamed and talks will be archived on the dedicated TEDx You Tube site and the TEDxYouth@Manchester website.
