Mr Hardman reports:

Since June, 10 students from Year 10 have been working during their lunchtimes and after school in A19, designing and building a robot to compete in this year competition named in the Zone link. We made it to the the North Regional competition held in Sheffield at the University Technical College.

Our team was the youngest there, with the rest of the teams being in year 11, 12 or 13, and most people had entered the competition before. The team tried their hardest and made it to the semi finals, but were then beaten by a robot that was far superior to ours.

VEX Robotics competition which is a Global competition with the finals being held in the USA.

The team was:

  • Thomas Wood 10S
  • James Ketel 10S
  • Jamie Edwards 10S
  • Joshua Kerr 10S
  • Dylan Freeman 10S
  • Alexander Pegg 10C
  • Serenne Roberts 10E
  • Benjamin Kyd 10E
  • Bethan Jordan 10F
  • Sophie Bennett 10F

Mr Power commented on the team and their continuing efforts and adventures in the Vex competitions:

Well done to you and the team!
It’s fantastic that our students are getting the chance to compete in such a technically challenging event. Getting to the semi-final is a terrific achievement.
