The day was structured in a way that gave the students exposure to a variety of practical activities and presentations from guest speakers. These included an ex-Fallibroome student whose own diverse career path had led him to produce media material such as innovative apps for the BBC.
Another presentation from two ex-students currently doing apprenticeships at Astra Zeneca was well received by the students and gave an insight into what apprenticeships involve and the benefits of doing one.

In the afternoon the students took part in an assessment centre style challenge of building a structure out of 20 pieces of spaghetti to support a marshmallow. This required teamwork and good communication skills. 9P demonstrated particular skill in building the tallest tower of a phenomenal 1.2m winning the form a tub of chocolate.

According to the students the absolute highlight of the day was the informal conversations within the careers fair with professionals from a variety of fields. We had over 30 different professionals at the fair from a midwife to premier league football referees, to the Police, to a physiotherapist- to name but a few!

This event runs every year and we would love to hear from you if you are interested in imparting some of your professional knowledge to a keen audience. Students were particularly eager to hear from the following areas: Archaeology, athletics, dance, fashion, firefighters, interior design, landscaping, motor sports, musicians, photographers

If you are interested in participating next year, please contact Clare Wolff via email.
