The annual Careers Day was held at Fallibroome Academy for all the Year 9 students and was a great success.

The day was structured in a way that gave the students exposure to a variety of practical activities and presentations from guest speakers. These included an ex-Fallibroome student whose own diverse career path had led him to produce media material such as innovative apps for the BBC.

Another presentation from Macclesfield Pledge on Apprenticeships was well received by the students and gave an insight into what apprenticeships involve and the benefits of doing one.

In the afternoon the students took part in an assessment centre style challenge of building a structure out of 20 pieces of spaghetti to support a marshmallow. This required teamwork and good communication skills. 9E demonstrated particular skill in building the tallest tower of a phenomenal 86cm winning the form a tub of chocolate.

According to the students the absolute highlight of the day was the informal conversations within the Careers Fair with professionals from a variety of fields. We had over 30 different professionals at the fair including a military equine nurse, Premier League football referees, members of the police service and a pilot – to name but a few!

This event runs every year and we would love to hear from you if you are interested in imparting some of your professional knowledge to a keen audience. Students were particularly eager to hear from the following careers:
Baker/ chef, graphic designer, musician and photographer.
