The Community Managers just wanted to say, “Hello!” to you all.  Even though we can’t be with you in person, we wanted to remind you that we are all still here, at the end of Gmail and happy to hear any of your ideas.

Fundraising with a difference…

Unfortunately, this year’s Sponsored Walk has had to be cancelled.  Every year this walk helps to raise an amazing amount of money for our partner schools Dennegeur and Grabouw schools in South Africa. The Community Managers have had to get their thinking caps on!  We have had to consider how we can bring our community together to raise some money to support Dennegeur and Grabouw.

With this in mind, we have a Lockdown challenge for you…

Get Active for South Africa

We are challenging you to be more creative in the ways that you can ‘Get Active’ so we can raise some money for our partnership schools: Dennegeur Primary School and  Grabouw School in South Africa.

You can be as active and creative as you like!  Why not try:

  • Walking the dog backwards
  • Playing football on your bike
  • Going for a walk… on your hands!

Have a look at the video Mrs Collins has made to give you more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we need to raise money for a place so far away?

We have a short video which will explain all of this to you.  Have a watch and see all of the reasons why we need to help our partnership schools.

How can you make a difference?

We would like you to join out ‘Get Active for South Africa’ fundraising efforts.  You just need to get active in as many unusual ways as you can – it doesn’t matter how silly!

For every new activity that you complete, we would ask that you try to get some sponsorship money to contribute to the campaign.   Maybe try one activity for £1, five for £5 or 10 for £10!

We know times are really tough, and everyone is trying their best, but we would love you to raise £6.  If you can’t do this, don’t worry!  Why not try creating a poster or video of your ideas and promoting our campaign with your family and friends to raise awareness of our campaign.

To contribute, all you have to do is ask add your money via WisePay on the school website,  under the heading ‘Get Active for South Africa’.  All pupils can do this, as can parents or guardians with a WisePay account.  If you have any problems, or think you have lost the details to your WisePay account, please email and you can be sent a new one.

Why £6?

You can get to the other schools in Macclesfield very easily. Did you know it is over 6km from Dennegeur to Grabouw? We are asking you to raise £1 for each kilometer of that journey.

If you would like to submit a video of your activities, please ask your parent or guardian to complete the Google Form giving permission for your video to be used by the school.  Just remember some simple steps…

  • Wear any safety equipment which is crucial to keeping you safe. For example, if you intend to ride your bike, make sure you are wearing your helmet.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. Flip flops aren’t great for playing football in!
  • Film your video in a sensible place. Remember not to show too much of your location.  We don’t want to show everyone where you live in your film, but completing your activities in the garden or a local safe place is fine.
  • Make sure you have the permission of all people you put into the video.
  • Wear sun cream if it is hot, waterproofs if it is raining.
  • Please be safe while you complete your activities. We don’t want you to have any accidents like Mrs Davenport did! Watch this video to see!
  • Have fun!
